It is the deliberate effort to reorient a church around its mission so it can move from stagnation or decline into spiritual vitality and forward momentum.

Research consistently indicates that 65–85% of churches in North America are either plateaued or in decline. In other words, the majority of congregations require intentional renewal if they are to regain health and forward momentum. Yet revitalization is not a one-size-fits-all formula. Every church carries a unique history, culture, leadership dynamic, and community context. There is no "magic pill" that produces renewal in the same way everywhere.
